Experienced Homeowners, Professional Educators
The Custom Home Navigator is based on the experiences of Lee and Sachi LeFever. Since 2010, we've worked with architects and builders on multiple projects including a custom home completed in 2021.
Our small company, Common Craft, is known around the world to making complex ideas easy to understand. Lee is the author of The Art of Explanation. This expertise now extends to the custom home building process.

Our Experience
We are very engaged clients who ask a lot of questions and seek to understand every part of the process. Over many years and multiple projects, we developed an understanding of the home planning and construction that is diffilcult to achieve without direct experience. We created Build Livable to help other homeowners learn faster and become informed, productive members of the team.

Hillside House: Seattle 2010
Our first project was filly renovating a home that had into disrepair. Being the first project, it was full of stress and confusion, but helped us develop a solid foundation for future projects.

Hilltop House: Seattle 2011
We added a full story to our 1928 craftsman, which meant fully renovating the main floor. The home was designed to have a contemporary flair, but still reference the neighbors style.

Flattop: Orcas Island 2021
Over 20 months we worked with construction pros on our forever home off the coast of Washington State. This success of this project was based on years of working with construction pros.
